Long Shadow Wines

Long Shadow Wines is a small winery in the Yarra Valley producing fine handmade wines. Wine makers Dick Richey and Bruce Hawksworth started off each making wines separately as a hobby. In 2012 they decided to get together and make wines for others to enjoy.

Picking, crushing, pressing and bottling is done by hand and we employ a range of volunteer friends when the hard work needs to be done.

All our Pinot Noir is sourced from Allan Smith of Lira Lira winery which closed a few years ago but continued to maintain a small number of vines. Our other varietals are sourced from various vineyards in the Yarra Valley and surrounds where we try to select handpicked fruit, always the best quality and always at the optimum time.

Block 47 Range

Facing East on a Heritage Ridge line.

On a hidden allotment nestled in hills of Croydon we grow a small amount of hand tendered vines. These small lots of hand-picked grapes allow us to take a little more time with each wine.

Meticulously overseen by Dick Richey each wine is hand crafted in small amounts to ensure the wine retains the delicate fine fruit flavours from each variety.

A patient wife and good friends are also an important ingredient.
